Volunteer Schedules Now on the Blog Website
The parent Volunteer Schedules are now on the Columbus Academy Vikings Volleyball website as a link under the 2013 Calendars section on the left side of the page. Please note the dates and times for which you have volunteered.
If you cannot make your scheduled volunteer time slot, please find another parent to fill in for you using the 2013 Contact List which is also now available on the blog website as a link under the Related Links section on the left side of the page.
There are still a few holes in the schedules. Contact Mel Vodnick (mvodnick@gmail.com) or Polly Clavijo (pclavijo@revolutiongroup.com) if you can fill in. (Then you'll stop getting our pleading emails!)

Updates and Reminders
Hello families,
What a great weekend for both the JV and Varsity teams! The girls are already showing improvement, and watching them win is exciting! I have a few updates and reminders.
Just a reminder, the weight lifting schedule changed to Mondays and Fridays. The girls will lift from 5:00-5:30 on Mondays and 4:00-4:30 on Fridays.
Also, a big thank you to all of the parents and siblings (thanks to Natalie's sister) for helping volunteer at the games. Another special thank you to our line judges (Kami's Dad and Yashi's Dad) for volunteering for all three matches today! Just a reminder, if you have NOT signed up to volunteer at least 5-6 times for the year you need to contact Polly Clavijo ASAP. Every family MUST volunteer in order for the season to run smoothly. We have a lot of holes to fill and have noticed that some families still need to sign up. I realize that some of you may have not been at the parent meeting to sign up, so please email Polly Clavijo at pclavijo@revoluntiongroup.com ASAP to sign up at least 5 or 6 times throughout the year. Our season is already in full swing, so we need your help! Thanks again for your time and commitment to the program!
Lastly, we ask that parents are respectful of coaches time before and after a game. Coaches use the time beforehand to look over lineups and prepare for the upcoming match. After a match, coaches are usually collecting items and rehashing the games in their minds, so we do ask that you do not approach a coach to discuss the game or give input. We fully understand that parents may have ideas of how to improve the team, but we do ask you leave that up to the coaches. Thanks for your understanding with this matter.
We look forward to a positive season with such an amazing group of girls! Have a great weekend!

Hello CA VB Crew,
Today was a great kick off to the year. Both JV and Varsity played hard and showed promise for a strong season!!
BOOK & LIBERO TRAINING
We will have book & Libero tracking training on Tue. Aug. 20th at 5:30 PM. We'll review the processes then do some tandum tracking during the JV game.
VOLUNTEERS
There are still many open volunteer spots which need to be filled. If you can cover additional spots, come see me at Tuesday's game.
SNACK & RIBBONS
As discussed at the parent meeting, each family has been assigned a game day to bring snack & hair ribbons (BTW the Varsity girls have 'vetoed' ribbons, so you only need to bring ribbons for 10 JV girls). The number next to your name specifies which snack package you should bring. There are three options for delivering the snack;
1. Send it in with your player and she delivers to Coach Dow or Coach Gepper’s room
2. Drop off it in athletic office prior to 3:00. Label all coolers/containers/bags CA VB
3. Meet the team in the dining hall at 3:10 with the snack
Snack Package #1
Apples
Case of water
Bread/buns- enough to make 25 sandwiches
Small jar of mayonnaise & mustard
Clementines
Case of water
Snack Package #3
1 jar strawberry jelly
Bread/buns - enough to make 25 sandwiches
2 bag baby carrots and dip
Case of water
Thanks for your support!! GO VB VIKES!!

Informal Scrimmage
We will be hosting an informal scrimmage tonight (August 13) vs. Gahanna Christian during our normal practice time. Our parent meeting will still be held at 7:30pm. It will be conducted by Melanie Vodnick and then coaches will attend after the scrimmage. Thanks for your time and we look forward to seeing all of you tonight.

Hello CA VB Parents,
I, Melanie Vodnick (Mother of Lauren) and Polly Clavijo (Mother of
Ana) will be your 2013 Volleyball team parents. We are tasked with
coordinating volunteers, snack, spirit ware, senior night and the banquet for
our Volleyball Vikes. Needless to say, we need your help to make the
season run smoothly.
As you likely know, Volleyball is the MOST demanding sport
for parent volunteers. Each match requires 2-7 volunteers to make it
‘run’. For this reason attendance at the Parent meeting on Tue. Aug. 13th
at 7:30 PM, is very important. PLEASE come with your calendar so
you can sign up to support our girls.
Something to think about… Polly and I need parents who are willing
to lead the following activities;
·
Senior
night (2 non senior parents)· Banquet (2 parents)
· Snack coordinator (1 parent)
If you are interested in asisting, please send me an email (mvodnick@gmail.com )
The Viking Corner team has identifying an assortment of general
spirit ware which can be ordered via the Viking Corner web site;
http://www.shopvikingcorner.com/
. Any of the items ordered will have a CA
Volleyball logo. I encourage you to order quickly, because quantities
are limited. Please note, in keeping with tradition, the girls will also
design a 2014 ‘custom’ spirit T-shirt.
If you have not already done so, please go to the CA VB Blog and
sign up to receive emails. This is how you will receive ongoing
information about schedule updates, team activities and general
information (photos…).
·
Log
onto the CA VB Blog http://columbusacademyvolleyball.blogspot.com/
· Under the 'Updates via email'
All the best,
Melanie & PollySaturday, August 3, 2013
